HotSpot control allows you to turn your Android phone or tablet into a temporary router, allowing your other devices to connect to each other using it. Getting started is simple – just fire up the app. You can choose whatever SSID (network name) and password (mandatory) you like, and then tap “Enable Access Point” and you’ll have a network.
You should now see your new network on your other devices – whether it’s a laptop, desktop, tablet, PC, Mac, or Linux doesn’t matter. Connect the way you normally would with as many devices as you’d like, and you’ll be able to send files from one computer directly to another or play network-only games.
This router-like functionality is built into Android, and has been for years. Many wireless carriers – and even some Android devices – hide the option from the settings instead of removing it altogether.
